My OCs, Calliope (left, girl), Shu (center, boy), and Etzel (right, boy).
;//u//; So uhm , yeah. I'm really not one to do a lot of Holiday themed artwork, but i've honestly had this idea in my head for the longest time and decided that I finally just had to draw it.
xD If you know these three OCs of mine or my unicorn characters in general then you probably already get it, but i'll try to explain it for those who might not.
Basically, I've had the silly idea for the longest time to dress these three up in costumes that represent generic and very literal versions of each other. Like most of you know that the initial inspiration for Shu and Etzel's characters were the Pokemon Shuppet and Spinarak respectively and while they don't really have much to do with them so literally anymore their characters still reference these initial inspirations canonically. Shu still has ties to elements of ghosts and Etzel to spiders. Calliope on the other hand had different inspirations, but the one that is relevant here is the typical equine Unicorn. xD Yes, just because all of my "Unicorn" horned characters have that common trait it does not mean that they are all literally horses with horns as we come to associate the word. Calliope and Faustus are actually the only ones that you currently know of that represent the equine single horned mythical creature.
Anyways, so yes. Shu's character has to do with ghosts, Etzel with spiders, and Calliope with equine unicorns. Since these themes are all worn as generic Halloween costumes I thought it would be comical to draw them to portray another's theme. So if it isn't obvious by now, Shu is dressed with the equine unicorn theme of Calliope, Calliope with the spider theme of Etzel, and Etzel with the ghost theme of Shu. TwT Hopefully that makes sense~
.....xD also since a lot of people take Halloween as an excuse to wear nonsensically suggestive costumes, I couldn't resist the hilarity of making their theme-swapped costumes just as stupid. xD //shot
e w e I imagine it would be 100% and idea of Calliope's and Etzel, and after seeing the costume they want him to wear, Shu greatly regrets agreeing to the idea ....xD

xD Also for a little bit of elaboration on the costumes, Calliope has the theme of a black widow spider, Etzel has the them of a Teru Teru Bozu (which is the original inspiration for the Pokemon Shuppet as well as in the US is made by children as a generic Halloween ghost rather than for its traditional Japanese use) and Shu....well....let just say the man in my signature on my page should give you a hint. eue //shotshotshot
TuT Anyway, the colors are kind of crazy even for me, haha. I wanted to have a blue nighttime setting with a heavy orange orange glow as it feels really Halloween to me without being...err...whats the word...like, "gothic" I guess? You know, like black and red. LOTS OF BLACK AND RED EVERYWHERE. Its just my preference really, but I just don't really like dark/macabre/spooky things that have those type of color palettes. xD Not that this even has a really dark theme whatsoever, but you know. It is a Halloween themed drawing so I wanted to steer clear of that sort of thing because I absolutely despise it. xD I think everyone knows by know that my sense of color is pretty strange anyway haha~ TwT But yeah, blue and orange has a great Halloween feeling <3 T3T To be fair, the lighting should be more intense and dramatic with the background the way it is but I wanted to be able to see the colors on their outfits so I took a bit of liberty with the lightness and saturation on the three of them especially. Technically if I wanted to do the lighting in the most realistic way possible given the background and light source, most of the color on them would be desaturated to basically all blues and oranges and YES i'm aware of that. I wanted it to be dark but not in the way that it seems overly menacing and intense. More cute and lighthearted with childish spooky, you know?~ TuT Anyway yeah~ Its not perfect or anything, but I do so hope you all will like it <3
