; o; Okay, so this is finally done.
- n- I cannot even tell you how long i've spent on this and how frustrated I got with it. Just to give you a vague idea of how long i've spent on this, I started this when my sketchbook was about half full. Since then i've filled that entire sketchbook and have about 10 pages done in my next one. :/ Yeah.
The actually sketch and lineart were no problem but I just...froze when it came to the coloring. I literally was afraid of coloring this because.....yeah. All those details really intimidated me. Plus, I really wanted to use lots of dark colors, which I have trouble using. So basically I just picked at the coloring a little whenever I got up the courage to until it was finished. @__@ I actually started this before I even finished with my "Before the Storm" picture. Seriously.
Andddd ever since I began coloring this I've had this difficulty with finishing drawings now. ;n; Not going to lie, I got a bit feed up with this and didn't take as much time on it as I should have in the end. But.....its done. I'm just glad I didn't give up mid way like I kept thinking I was going to. Even though I think it looks terrible, at least I tried something different and actually stuck to it until the end.
But enough of that!
So yeah, basically this was something I wanted to do for a few reasons. One, I wanted to practice with backgrounds. Two, I wanted to use more dark colors. Three, I wanted to use only my Prismacolor Standard colored pencils and stop relying on my Verithin ones so much. And four, I wanted an excuse to draw Kairin xD
^^ Kairin is a fun character in my little story I think. In some ways I think he is the most understated of the "main" characters. He doesn't speak much, and is much more "animalistic" than all of my other animal characters, which makes him interesting in contrast. Its kind of funny to me because a lot of my animal characters act so very "human" or try to escape their animalistic behaviors, while Kairin does not. xD Oh, i'm dumb. Nobody probably knows what i'm talking about. This is Kairin, a "gijinka" (more or less) of a Ring Tailed Lemur. He is a character from my personal project called "Wake".
xD Anyways, like I was saying, because he is more "animalistic" than most characters in my story, he enjoys living in areas others would find uninhabitable, such as the densely overgrown forests. But more than enjoying it, he lives there for the delicious wild plants and to hide his stashes of stolen food. He's a shameless kleptomaniac when it comes to anything edible. xDD
Also, his skin and hair aren't really quite so dark or even quite that color, but because of the lighting and scene I wanted to make them a little different for the effect.
Ahh yeah so about the plants. No, most of these don't actually exist. In my little story, their world is filled with tons of strange and exotic types of plants, and these are just some of the ones I envision.
Ohhh...@_@ The blue light. I have to say something about this because...ugh. You see, I wanted to do this really cool sort of radiating aqua blue light but....it got kind of washed out in comparison to all the light green tones. Where as it stands out too much in contrast to his skin. ;__;

I didn't want to post it because...ugh.
There are so many things wrong its just sad. ;___;
But.....I guess it was good practice. I'm learning how to use my Standard Prismacolor pencils better, so that is a good thing at least. *o* they blend magically~
;n; So yeah. Sorry for literally burning your eyes with these colors.
And my mass amount of fail.
