You can watch me color this here: Part one: [link] Part two: [link] Part three: [link] ------------------------
;w; Oh hay guys! x3 More artsu spam for you!
;3; So yeah. This has been sitting on my desk for...I don't know.... at least a month. Now that I do commissions and have school and stuff, I work on SO many different things at the same time. Which is nice because I take my time with things, but it means that when I start something it ends up sitting there for a long time before I can commit a lot of time to it. OTL
But that is beside the point. You might remember this character from here: [link] I said I was going to draw something legitimate with this character, and I did! xD Yaya for me and keeping to my word.
^^ But it wasn't a hard thing to do anyways, I am totally in love with this OC @_@ I've been spending pretty much every second of my free time working on developing my own orignal stories, specifically the story that this character is in, the same one that my OC Phyre is in. (xD And I'm also spending a crapton of time on my "Unicorn" story as well //shot)
;3; Unfortunately, I can't really say much about this character for spoiler reasons, but i'll say what I can.
This is (--------), pronounced as "Nameless". This is kind of hard to explain, but i'll do my best. No, technically his name is not actually "Nameless", but he does not have a name, meaning that when people refer to him they call him Nameless. (--------) is just a written form for his name not existing. Technically his name (or lack there of) would not be written in the story. It would just appear as a blank space. However, for the sake of writing, it is written as (--------) so you know that they are referring to him. Again, his name is not actually "Nameless" so it would not be written that way. Remember, in the actual story his name isn't "written" at all and appears as a blank space! ene I hope that makes sense....
EDIT: >v> Here is a bit of info for you, but you won't know the entire context, so it won't be a spoiler!~
Its a bit misleading, the background. Someone brought up portals and i'm glad because that is part of the idea, although in an ironic way. xD Lets just say...where he is there is nothing and it is infinite, so the "gates" being there are basically there to illustrate the theory that when a loop is infinite, it doesn't matter which door or "portal" you start at or travel through, the result is always the same - you get nowhere. The keys are ironic and funny to him because a door that leads to nothing is never locked, nor does it go anywhere. The idea that any one given point or "gate" in an infinite loop being locked doesn't make any sense, so he finds it funny. Where he is, what its called, what purpose it serves, and who exactly he is I can't say for spoiler reasons ^^ xD But I can tell you a bit about his personality. He pretty much thinks that everyone is an idiot, which is technically true in his case. Lets just say that he is infinitely knowledgeable and because of this, when someone believes something to be true that he knows to be completely false he goes into a fit of laughter because they are ignorant to reality. And of course, one who does not have a label or an identity is nameless and is no one, but in being no one we have no bias, so in theory everything can be infinitely understood. He just thinks its hilarious how dumb people are, how they can live lies and not question anything. Or more, how they are blind to the truth that lies right in front of them. He's forever laughing at people and telling them how stupid they are. Pretty much his signature line is " Ha! How stupid can you be?! xD lol
^^ That is all I can say about this and him. Though again, the context in which all of this revolves around I cannot say or it would be a spoiler. END EDIT
xD Oh, and also because I just know someone will say something about it, yes, the chair is supposed to look like that. Yes, the "legs" of the chair is too short and the back of the chair is way too tall, I know, that was completely intentional.
....e3e Also, CHALK PASTELS. GRAHHH! TAT They are so messy and hard to use and very frustrating!!! But still so beautiful! @A@ ^^ Aside from the white circles and specs, about 90% is chalk pastels.
So yeah, I don't know what else to say.
;w; Hope you like it though~ x3 This was fun to do! And i'm glad I finally got it finished~

He reminds me of the matrix. How he knows the real truth and everyone is ignorant around him because he knows the matrix exists and they dont. I want to read this story so badly. @0@ But yeah..My nerdy matrix reference may not make any sense Im sorry //shot xD I love this picture and this character.
haha to me... he seems like a gate keeper if u get me with the whole other dimension feel XD and clearly the keys but i srsly cant explain how much i enjoy watching ur vids and i get sad when i wait 2 days for a new video cuz my sad life has nothing to do XD IM UR NUMBER ONE FAN... boy? So, um, when people talk about him, do they use the word "Nameless" or is his name simply nonexistent? As in... When people say it, it just doesn't exist. They say it and they know what they're talking about but they kinda... Don't say anything because they can't say anything because his name doesn't exists. Eygh, how could I explain this? Like... Well, in Kill Bill, until the main character's name was revealed, a bleep was inserted everywhere where her name was mentioned.
Also, this has nothing to do with anything but I get an odd Giratina vibe.
It's quite amazing how you can color so precisely with chalk pastels. I noticed you used some sort of a tool in the videos... It wasn't a chalk. What was it? It was like you used it to clean the mess around the outlines or something.
A very effective composition with those spiraling things and a green that fades into black. I really like Nameless' face and expression! Excellent! He looks amused... But kind of disturbing, too. I guess it's because his eyes are ceratinly not smiling. Well done Now, I think I'm always nagging about this but I would reaaaally have loved to see even a tiny bit of darker blue or green or blue-green on Nameless' hair and clothes. The contrast of black and dark greens that have white high lights makes them look... Kind of flat in comparison. B-but that's just my opinion and I probably just haven't understood how light works in this picture...! Yhh.
xD hehe, nooo, it isn't like in Kill Bill. He just doesn't have a name, so the characters refer to him as "Nameless" so they know who they are talking about. It just isn't written as "Nameless" because that isn't his actual name. xD Its hard to explain....well he never actually calls himself "Nameless" as a name, nor does he ever say anything about what his name is because it is irrelevant to his character. So, because it doesn't exists,it isn't written. However, it would be weird if two people were talking to each other about him and just paused where his name should be. So, to make it easier to identify him, the story characters call him "Nameless". And (--------) is only there so that when myself or someone else it writing about him they'll know who i'm talking about. I would just leave it as a blank space (as is done in the story), but typing programs usually don't let you leave more than one empty space. xD If that makes sense.
xD Giratina? Really? Haha, I guess I can see why you would think that. o vo In a way, I guess they are similar. Though.... xD Damn! I can't say it! Gah! See, just one word would explain everything about his character, but I can't say it because just that one word would connect to everything else and make a huge "Ah-ha" moment and basically spoil the entire thing. OTL
^^ Ah! Yeah, it is a blending stump/tortillion that I use to "move" around the pastels. See, if you use just your finger, the pastel moves around too much and its hard to get it to stay within a small area, but if you have the point of a blending stump its easier to move the pastel around within a small area. x3 Pffft, there is no way I would have been able to do all the detail in my DD piece if I didn't have them! xD lol
;w; And thank you!~ <3 xD Haha, yeah, I figured you would say that. Its hard to explain...see...where he is light and darkness do not exist. Yes, the colors transition, but they do not emit light. The only thing that makes a shadow is him. So, I figured with this in mind it wouldn't make sense to put heavy shadows because there is technically no light source. ;3; Hopefully that makes sense. OTL.... I over-think things.

Alright, thank you for clearing that up for me
Yeah, I somehow got the feeling... Giratina exists alone in a place that makes no sense. And is essential to the existence of the other world but merely gazes over it quitely... There might be something there. I'm quite interested It'll be great to learn more about Nameless.
I thought it was something like that
I see, I see! Yes, I figured I would just be wasting your time by nagging about it But that makes sense, I think. Though... How can you make a shadow if there is no light?
xD haha, lol no problem. I can't explain things properly OTL
o vo Yes! In a way, it is somewhat similar. But...lets just say that in (--------) world, it makes sense to exist, but is not so quiet about its existence. ^^ It is everywhere, and nowhere at the same time. xD Its hard to explain out of context. ;w; Aww, but i'm glad you are interested in his character. >w> Gah, he's so interesting and such a fun character for me <3
xD It has to do with his character, why he makes a shadow in a world where there is no light. xD I can't say why though, because it is a huge spoiler.
Oh Arkelle! You get my spam again because I love your pictures, and everything you draw, or make, and your coloring skills with them crayons and chalk pastels, and uhm everything XD rofl!
This...is a terribly interesting character you've created indeed! From what you said, it makes me think that he's an the center of everything and nothing at the same time whilst no one really knows it. He seems rather funny and would be quite entertaining to hear about, for he is forever lonely and yet you make him out to be such a happy sounding fellow, too!
And and and, moooore awesome hair! If he's in the same book/place as Phyre, we all know it's gonna be a blast! Hehehe
;w; Daw, I love your spam!~ TvT And baww, you are just so sweet!!
QvQ T-thank you so much...! I'm so glad you think so! x3 Hehe, yeah! I think he is so super interesting too! x3 And you are kind of right! c: Its challenging really, designing a character who is everything and yet nothing at the same time. Because we as people use bias to solve any given situation we encounter in our lives, designing a character who has no identity and cannot function based on this concept is difficult, but very fun to create and interesting to think about! xD Haha, and yeah, he is a very humorous and even a silly character, which makes it all the more twisted considering the seriousness of his role.
eue hehe oh yessss <3 xD Phyre's story is going to be much much fun. xD Really dark, crazy, and twisted, but all the more fun I think hehe
I really love this drawing. I've been watching your youtube videos for sometime and I love how you used chalk pastels, you made them look so easy to use.
I'm going to take a guess of whats happening in the picture (I'm probably tottaly wrong but oh well XD). What this picture reminds me of, is those pools from The Magician's Nephew (first book from Narina) where each pool represented a world (or dimension) and those pools were in a forest, that forest wasn't exataly anywhere or nowhere, the forest was just...there, being a gateway to all the portals to each world. So what the picture reminds me of is that your character Nameless is nowhere (like the forest in the Magician's Nephew) and each rectangle is a portal to another world. And the keys he holds are the keys to each world.
I'm probably way off. But either way, I love this piece. Sorry for rambling ^^'
;w; T-thank you!! I'm glad you do!~ x3 Hehe, and i'm glad you enjoy my Youtube videos too! xD Haha, Chalk pastels are so hard to use, so I'm glad i made them look easy at least! haha!~ x3
xD Hehe, that is a really good guess! I'm glad you brought up portals actually, because that does have something to do with it, though in an ironic way. ;w; I actually decided to add some information about this in the description that explain the idea of the drawing but are indirect story spoilers without context, so you can read what I mean by "portals" have something to do with it~
x3 And nooo that is a really good guess! xD If you kind of reverse the idea, it is pretty much right~ and pppfffffft I am the master of rambling and I love to read what others are thinking about too!! >v<
xD Yes, This is intentional! I put a crapton of irony into most of my characters and stories, so I tend to intentionally design my characters to give the impression of being something they are not. That way, the more we think of the character, the more we see them outside of our own bias. If that makes sense xD
