QwQ OMG! So we have the cutest little Hummingbirds around our house all the time, but out of nowhere we find a nest! And it is suuuuper close to our back patio and is almost completely exposed! Its at a little below eye level (I'm 5"4), and i've never seen a birds nest that low down or this out in the open! Its right next to one of our little brick walkways in the backyard, so if I walk on that path I'm right next to it! >V< Ahhh so cuuute! This little one has a baby too! I haven't got a really good look at it yet because it was sleeping and I didn't want to intrude on the nest too much but OMG CUTENESS OVERLOAD AHHHHH!!!
TnT The nest is kind of at an awkward angle for pictures though unfortunately, but I managed to get this cuuute picture of the little cutie's butt! xDDDD
I'm not a very good photographer, but I just had to share this little sweetie with you guys! ;u;
o3o My mom thinks its a male, but I don't know too much about Hummingbirds so I don't really know. Do male Hummingbirds even watch nests? OTL I don't think this one has a red throat, so maybe it is a girl? ;3; I don't knowwwww
By the way, seeing a hummingbird, and especially one nocking on your door, is cconsidered lucky, so you may be in for some good fortune for a while. hehe
It's really hard to see identifying features from this angle, but she looks like a female Anna's Hummingbird. It's their nesting period right now, and they're known to nest in backyards in semi-open areas. The female incubated 2 little white eggs (seemingly one in your case) for 14-19 days until they hatch. Beware however. The chicks are altricial, meaning they are born without feathers and with closed eyes so they may appear ugly. They are however fragile and must be fed by the mother until they grow bigger. I wonder how mature the baby bird has gotten.
If you can get another picture, preferably frontal or from the side, I could better tell you what hummingbird it is, but I do think she's an Anna's Hummingbird female.
OMG I'm 5'6'. I can't believe my sister and you are practically the same height o.o
