I wish I could have recorded my reaction when I saw that this received a Daily Deviation. I have never flailed my arms so much in my entire life. I screamed and flailed like a total fangirl and almost toppled everything on my desk in the process.

So this seriously took me a week to finish.

Err, well I mean I didn't spend like, the whole week on this, but yeah, whenever I had time to draw this is what I was working on. Oh you know what I mean.

So anyways, the second I got my beautiful shiny male Ponyta I just fell in love with him and immediately stared making a character for him! ^^ Originally, because he is a Japanese pokemon, I wanted to give him a Japanese name, but...xD you see as I was looking for a Japanese name for him a random other name popped into my head that I've been wanting to use for a long time now. To add to the just uncanny supernatural experiences that go along with this shiny Ponyta, I looked up what that name meant at of course it means "fortune/ luck." Soooo needless to say it was AGAIN destiny working its magic.
I mean honestly, what are the chances that a name i've been saving to use all this time would be just perfect for this little destined magical thing.

*o* Oh my gawd I love him so much. aasdfgh I can't even speak properly right now. He's just...I don't know, everything about him was so destined and magical....I just love that so much!
Anyways...because my shiny Ponyta in game is MALE and has a naughty nature, It got me thinking about his character. Ordinarily when I think of naughty natured Pokemon the first thing I think of is a sort of perversity, but in his case I saw it more as a...chaotic sort of perversity rather than sexual. As in someone who causes trouble or the like. But as I thought about his character more, I didn't want it to just be that sort of "mischievous" sort of trouble, but the malevolent kind...but not intentionally. And that is where everything kind of comes together in this picture.
When I think of a shiny Ponyta, I think about their beautiful and yet terrible blue flames. Blue flames looks so frigid, but burn the hottest. Thinking about this made me want to make him just as misleading of a character. Beautiful, and yet not. Cold, and yet fiery. From there I immediately thought about flowers and how they can look beautiful but can mean terrible things. I had this vision in my head that Faustus has a love for flowers, but as a fire type can't get close to them without destroying them. Of course, it isn't his intent to do so but it is inevitable. Then that went further and I envisioned this sort of scene where the frigid looking and yet terribly hot blue flames sort of began to engulf a beautiful meadow like they were being frozen in place, but actually being burned. To continue about how beautiful flowers can have terrible meanings, I chose to include Lobelia, which mean "malevolence" and Coriander which mean "lust" as a sort of ironic ode to their fate. The blue Raspberries....I added purely because they remind me of Faustus in some way. Perhaps i'll understand why that is later. Err, so yeah, that it the psychological break down of how I developed this scene and his character.
Funny thing about his design though....even though he is a representation of my shiny Ponyta I wouldn't really call him an actual "gijinka" purely for the fact that I kind of mixed the colors and designs of both a shiny Ponyta and Rapidash because I was indecisive about which form I wanted to make him as. So...I mixed them together. xD Shiny Ponyta/Rapidash hybrid. Or something.

^^ So yeah, that is that.
As far as actually drawing this....ugh.
Did I mention that 98% of this is CHALK PASTEL?!

If you've never used chalk pastels before.....UGH. THEY ARE SO MESSY AND SO HARD TO CONTROL AND ASDFGH-
But they are so beautiful *o*
So yeah, I had such a hard time coloring this, but at the same time I kind of enjoyed it. I really love the effects pastels make and it is fun to use different media~

Err so yeah. I don't know what else there is to say....
^^ Except that I just love this character and I really do love this piece.

I nearly squealed when I found out that he was meant to be a Ponyta. I was looking at this and thinking to myself,'This for some odd reason, reminds me of a Ponyta.' Yes, I agree with what the suggester for this Daily Deviation wrote. It holds an enchanting glow that captivates me into staring at it for hours and hours. I am also shocked this was done almost purely on chalk pastels. I know how hard it is to control them, and I'm not even mentioning the difficulties of finding the right shades of colors. Im sorry to say, however, that this doesn't strike me as ' a meadow aflame with blue fire'. It reminds me more of a fantasy magical type of thing. With him in that pose, as if 'summoning' something, and the light around him, it does look like that. The design of the character is simple yet elegant and strangely complicated as well. This has a quiet and piercing beauty that is worthy of a Daily Deviation.
