Description

TwT Blellum, my (mega) Banette <333
...o3o I noticed like, half way through that this would probably look super awesome as a tattoo xDDDDD //shot

Its taken me a LOOOOOONg time to finally commit to a favorite Pokemon, but finally after all these years I can say with 100% certainty that Banette is my favorite Pokemon! ;w; I've loved it ever since I saw it, ever since back in 3rd gen when it looked like a droopy sack of potatoes xD. I've just always loved it for some reason. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that Ghost is my favorite type in the beginning and then I was always intrigued by its original Pokedex descriptions. "A cursed energy permeated the stuffing of a discarded and forgotten plush doll, giving it new life as Banette. The Pokemon's energy would escape if it were to ever open its mouth"and " Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body. This Pokemon was originally a pitiful plush doll that was thrown away"
;A; When I was little, reading Banette's Pokedex decriptions I alwasy felt really sad for it, you know? That it was abandoned and all, but the more I thought about it as I grew up, the better I understood that it most likely wasn't because it was always "ugly" or "creepy", but because the child that once held it grew up. The way ghost Pokemon are described canonically, they were at one time something other than what they are now, and only come to be as the result of traumatic experience/death/negative emotions. The way I see it, Banette was  originally a very cute little plushie, not at all what it looks like now, and the child never "abandoned" it because it was ugly/creepy/cursed/ etc. but stopped paying attention to it because they had simply outgrown their toy. I don't think there was any sort of ill will in my opinion, and thinking of it that way makes me feel all the more empathetic towards Banette, believing that nothing it did would even mater in the end, it was always doomed to be forgotten as many things naturally are as people grow up. Yet it never knew that, and thought the child had maliciously disowned it perhaps for a newer, better toy, and from that anger turned into what it is today. The zipper on its mouth represents the words it could never say, "I love you" "Am I not good enough?" or "Don't leave me",  and the manner of sticking pins in itself started as a desperate attempt to sew itself back together into something desirable after seeing its disheveled form upon becoming animate. Later once all hope was lost and spite took its grasp, Banette learned to use it to curse others to share its pain of ineptitude and numbing hopelessness. Thinkinng about it that way, I've always loved Banette because I loved being the person, or in this case Trainer, who gave it a second chance. Who despite its looks and grudges, picked it up and never let it go from then on. T//w//T And then from that new found unbreakable bond, Banette and its trainer gained the ability to Mega Evolve, in this case quite literally "opening" itself up to something more than grudges and hate; love. TwT I love Banette because even though it might look creepy and mean on the outside, I feel trust, loyalty, and a sincere innocent love when I look at it, and that has always spoken more to me than just liking a Pokemon simply because its "cute" or "strong".
.....xD Yo, thats totally oceans too deep for Pokemon I know, but its always the most fun for me to think of simple things as deep and complexly as I can, and those things that have the most levels of complexity are often my favorites <3

>w< Anyways, a doodle of Blellum, my Banette.  AHHH I want a real plushie of her someday! <333 TvT I've been working on her design a bit more...generally when it comes to Pokemon I don't like them to be super outlandishly unique because It seems...errr...unrealistic to the reality of the Pokemon universe. Like an Espeon with wings or an orange Umbreon with hair for example. But a few distinguishable details/differences are okay to me to make a person's Pokemon unique to them, so i've been working more on that for Blellum. TvT I decided I want her to have pointed "teeth" for her zippers rather than squarish ones, and she has a more exaggerated feminine shape. She still has her signature patchwork and stitching, which is more my realistic interpretation of Banette rather than the typical depiction. xD Oh, and I preeeety much only ever see her as being mega so...I dunno maybe i'll find a way to explain that someday, like why/how she is always in Mega form since a certain point.

This is what her stats/moves/ blah is tentatively~ xD Its not really ment to be a real working set of course haha, just what the Pokemon would have given its personality etc.~

Blellum || Female || Banette (Mega) || Adamant nature || Ability Prankster
Moves - Infestation (signature), Shadow Sneak, Will-o-Wisp , Double Team
Held Item - Binding Band

;___; Whoa anyway textwall okay i'm done kay bye.
^///w//^ Do let me know what your favorite Pokemon is and why/how it came to be, or if there is any Pokemon that are significant to you in some way~
