My OC Rem, and his "hallucinations"
xD lol before I say anything, playing around with digital/traditional mixed media. ...Oh gawd why. -shot-
>u< Anyways, more Rem! I've been drawing him a lot lately. T//w//T He's my favorite of my OCs, I can't help it! //slapped
xD But I get a looooot of requests to see more art of him and to learn more about him so it works out that I love to draw him so much! >u<
;_; Err, just warning you, the way I explain the context here might be a bit... disturbing OTL. Its kind of hard to explain, so i'll try my best but it'll be kind of long. OTL
As i've mentioned, Rem cannot sleep and so he never dreams. It is not that he physically can't sleep, but he must force himself to stay awake for a very important reason. For him, every day is torment. Feeling the heaviness of sleep, yet he can never lift the weight. On top of that, he has terrible hallucinations. It has gotten to the point that he is legitimately unsure of what is real and what isn't. What is just pure nightmare fuel or paranoia. Rem must steal the dreams of others to use as energy and to live without sleeping, however, the power held within dreams is immense, and is completely, malevolently, unpredictable. You could say Rem's hallucinations take tangible form because of the raw power of the dreams, but they manifest due to his lack of sleep. The conflict between his body wanting to give up and his mind wanting to go on is a constant internal strife that becomes much more real through the hallucinations. There is a "shadow" or a dark side of Rem that always wants the pain to stop. Its the looming thought that it would be so easy to just drift into sleep and end it. Because of the hallucinations, this little voice in the back of his head grows bigger and more aggressively persuasive. Basically the way he sees is, it is a "dark" version of himself, but a bit older. I call him "Remnant" -shot-It is like the "bad" conscience that sits on your shoulder wanting you to make bad decisions, but in this case he is his own "good" conscience. It constantly picks at Rem, trying to lull him into sleep, and as time goes on it becomes much more forceful in doing so. Basically....well...trying to shove a handful of sleeping pills down his throat, amongst other things.
;//_//; Uhm...yeah. I know, very unnervingly disturbing, especially given his "age" and his very babyish hallucinations appear as is. I'm probably giving other people nightmares asdfghjkl- OTL

Ugfff- how do I even words properly after explaining that I can't even-

I don't....even want to talk abut how long it took me to figure out a way to put a background behind layer on an image that can't be separated from its original background.
